About Us

Owned and managed by husband and wife team Nick and Briony De’Ath, De’Ath Hospitality is the home of some of Norwich’s best-loved pubs, bars and holiday-let accommodation.

With more than thirty years experience in the business, Nick and Briony are still passionate about providing the highest standards of service, an extensive range of drinks, food for every occasion and, with their recently developed holiday-let accommodation, a warm welcome for visitors to Norwich too.

Experience

Nick & Briony De’Ath have been working in hospitality (mostly together!) for over 30 years. We have grown our business from one pub to six – each with their own style, menus and atmosphere but the same high standards – and in 2022 began to offer holiday accommodation too.

We have been at the helm of The Unthank Arms – a landmark Norwich pub – for over 25 years. We are very much ‘hands on’ – we rarely have to ask our fantastic team to do something we haven’t done ourselves! We are involved in every aspect of our businesses from menu planning, sourcing suppliers, recruiting outstanding staff and being on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly. We do, however, place great faith in our teams who share our passion for delivering excellent quality, locally sourced, lovingly prepared food and going the extra mile to exceed our customer’s expectations. Our faith is repaid by the many compliments we receive about our amazing teams!

Team

Owner – Nick De’Ath – has worked in hospitality since time began. Nick is all about the pubs, and with six in the group (all of which have their own identity and style), he’s kept busy sourcing a fantastic range of good quality cask ales and fine wines.

Nick’s passion for ales, shines through at the annual Valentine Beer Festival at the Trafford Arms.

Nick is also a committee member of the Moveable Feast in Norwich, a charity event for Parkinson’s UK. The Moveable Feast is a unique dining experience, enabling diners to sample the delights of three Norwich restaurants – all in one evening!
He credits many mentors for encouraging him in his love of providing excellent service, innovative ideas and respect for industry colleagues.

Owner – Briony De’Ath – a Norfolk girl through and through (having lived in a three-mile radius for her whole life!) Briony is passionate about the details! She’s a keen foodie with a special interest in making sure guests with dietary restrictions aren’t short-changed. She also takes the lead on managing our holiday-lets. Briony loves trouble-shooting (which is just as well!) and learning new skills.

Operations Manager – Rebecca Williamson – Bex has been part of our team since 2005 and now keeps us in line! She takes the lead on staff training, stock control, H&S and also loves making sure we have the best waste management system possible(!). Every business needs a Bex!

Group Head Chef – Jon Abery – Jon’s experience, attention to detail, passion for outstanding food and natural ability to inspire and encourage made him the perfect choice to take on the task of providing support across our four kitchens.
