Owned and managed by husband and wife team Nick & Briony De’Ath, De’Ath Hospitality combines a personal, family-run business with our customers at its heart. Our team of reliable and skilled chefs, experienced event managers and hard-working waiting staff are dedicated to delivering an effortless service, making sure your occasion is planned and executed to the highest of standards.

Experience

Nick & Briony De’Ath have been working in hospitality (mostly together!) for over 25 years. We have grown our business from one pub to four – each with their own style, menus and atmosphere, an outside catering business and an events management company.

We have been at the helm of The Unthank Arms – a landmark Norwich pub – for over 25 years. We are very much ‘hands on’ – we rarely have to ask our fantastic team to do something we haven’t done ourselves! We are involved in every aspect of our businesses from menu planning, sourcing suppliers, recruiting outstanding staff and being on hand to make sure each and every event runs smoothly. We do, however, place great faith in our team who share our passion for delivering excellent quality, locally sourced, lovingly prepared food and going the extra mile to exceed our customer’s expectations. Our faith is repaid by the many compliments we receive about our team!

Team

Owner – Nick De’Ath – has worked in hospitality since time began. Nick is all about the pubs, and with four in the group (all of which have their own identity and style), he’s kept busy sourcing a fantastic range of good quality cask ales and combining these with fine wines and complimenting menus for each of the pubs!

Nick’s passion for ales, shines through at the annual Valentine Beer Festival at the Trafford Arms.

Nick is also a committee member of the Moveable Feast in Norwich, a charity event for Parkinson’s UK. The Moveable Feast is a unique dining experience, enabling diners to sample the delights of three Norwich restaurants – all in one evening!
He credits many mentors for encouraging him in his love of providing excellent service, innovative ideas and respect for industry colleagues.

Owner – Briony De’Ath – a Norfolk girl through and through (having lived in a three-mile radius for her whole life!) Briony is passionate about the details! She’s a keen foodie with a special interest in making sure guests with dietary restrictions aren’t short-changed and loves nothing more than serving plates of food that are greeted with an enthusiastic response from diners.

Head Chef – Andrew Wilson – has worked for our company for over 20 years. He has learnt and grown alongside us and now has strategic responsibility for sourcing the best local produce as well as the unusual ingredients from afar (authentic Bitteballen from Holland or Baklava from Greece anyone?!), training the kitchen team and day to day management of his own large team. He loves nothing more than to brainstorm to create a bespoke menu – a Mexican inspired feast, authentic Italian dishes, a Greek-style table buffet… anything to get out of the gardening at home!

Events and Marketing Manager  – Emily Hardesty – with six years’ experience in the events industry, organising everything from large dinner dances to beautiful weddings and having travelled the world, picking up skills and experience along the way. Emily joined the team last year to make sure every event is planned to perfection. Her attention to detail and her ‘can do’ attitude is inspiring to anyone starting out in the planning their day but she’s careful not to promise ‘monkeys swinging from chandeliers’ (her words!) so that we can be confident we can deliver exactly on our word.
